An International Conference on Decarbonization of Indian Railways – Mission Electrification will be organised in New Delhi today. The conference will cover aspects relating to policy, technological modernization, innovations and financing models for railway electrification and decarbonization. <br/><br/>Briefing reporters in New Delhi, Member Traction, Railway Board, AK Kapoor said, the Railways has set a target of achieving 90 per cent electrification of rail track with heavy traffic by 2020. He said, to reduce the carbon foot print, the Railways have taken various measure including installation of solar power and wind power plants.
