Railways have registered a growth of over 10 per cent in revenue earnings during the month of April to October of this fiscal as compared to the last year during same period.

According to an official release, the total earnings of Railways during April to October 2011 were around 57338 crore rupees as compared to about 52066 crore rupees during the same period last year. While the total passenger revenue earnings during first seven months of the this fiscal were around 16321 crore rupees as compared to over 14874 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 9.73 per cent.

The total goods earnings have also gone up from about 34629 crore rupees during these periods as compared to over 38085 crore rupees during same period last year showing an increase of around 10 per cent.
