Railways directs officials to inspect rail tracks at 3 AM in places reeling under cold

The railways has directed its officials especially those posted in places reeling under intense cold conditions to inspect rail tracks at 3 AM in wake of the recent train accidents. <br/><br/>Chairman Railway Board AK Mittal said, the drive will be conducted till February 5 to inspect tracks for fractures and other anomalies that become the root cause of train accidents. He said, maximum fractures take place between 3 and 4 in the morning when temperature is the lowest. <br/>'<br/>Mr Mittal also reviewed the accident spot near Kanpur in Pukhrayan where Indore-Patna Express derailed on November 20. Talking to media persons after inspection yesterday, he said Railway cannot reduce number of trains but cautious steps can be taken in the direction of avoid such mishaps. <br/><br/>He added that Railway board is planning to purchase modern equipment including 'Mobile Ultrasonic Vans' to check any anomaly on the tracks.
