Railways decides to modify some of the tatkal ticket booking rules

Passengers booking tatkal tickets from computerised reservation counters will no longer be required to furnish photocopy of identity proof or to indicate its number at the time of booking at the counter or through internet. Railways have decided to modify some of the tatkal ticket booking rules. As per the proposed changes, one of the passengers has to produce identity proof in original during the journey. However, if he or she fails to produce the identity proof all the passengers booked on that ticket will be treated as travelling without ticket and charged accordingly.

These changes will be effective from 1st of September this year.
