Indian Railways carried 78.71million tonnes freight in October, marking an increase of over 7 per cent in freight loading over the same period last year.An official release says, there is an increase of 5.25 million tonnes over the freight traffic of 73.46 million tonnes carried in October 2009, registering an increase of 7.15 per cent.Significant growth in the last month was recorded in loading of coal , foodgrains , steel and cement. Negative growth, however, continued in the loading of Iron-ore which has been affected by sanctions imposed in Orissa and Karnataka.
