The Ministry of Railways has announced the introduction of 26 new trains. They will be operational within a week.
Briefing reporters in New Delhi yesterday, Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi also annouced extension of 8 existing trains and increase in frequency of 5 more trains with immediate effect.
The new trains include Pune-Secunderabad Shatabdi Express, Guwahati-Dimapur Express, Indore-Kota Intercity Express, Bikaner-Delhi Sarai Rohilla Express– among those which will run daily. While Dwarka-Tuticorin Vivek Express, Gorakhpur-Yesvantpur Express and others will run weekly.
The Railways have taken measures to prevent misuse of the Tatkal scheme. The new scheme provides for booking Tatkal tickets before 24 hours instead of 48 hours at present.Mr Trivedi said, there will be no provision of refund and duplicate tickets for Tatkal.
