Railway to invest Rs. 5 lakh crore for infrastructure development

Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu has said that the Raiway will invest more than Rs. 5 lakh crore for development of infrastructure in the country in the next three years.<br/><br/>He also said that the railways are also trying to speed up the process of laying rail tracks to 19 km per day from 4.79 km per day as of now.<br/><br/>He was dedicating to the nation the new station building of Jorhat Town Station, Renovated Dibrugarh Town Station, free wi-fi services at Guwahati Railway station and provision of reverse osmosis (RO) water treatment plant at Guwahati Railway station in a function organised in Dibrugarh today.<br/><br/>Mr Prabhu mentioned that his ministry is also working on the plan to give more powers to the station masters of the Railway stations in the country along with considering the provision for providing new uniforms to the railway employees.
