Railway earnings were up by around 20 per cent during April 2012 to March this year. Over one lakh twenty four thousand crore rupees revenue was generated during the period as against more than one lakh crore rupees in the corresponding period of 2011-12.An official release said, earnings from passenger segment were nearly 32 thousand crore rupees as compared to over 28 thousand crore during 2011-12 registering an increase of over 11 per cent.
