Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal has ruled out any further hike in freight tariff. Noting that the hike in diesel will cost railways an additional burden of 300 crore rupees annually, Mr Bansal said, the government is not going to revise the latest hike in freight tariff. He was talking to reporters on the sidelines of a seminar in New Delhi today. Railways has proposed about five per cent fuel adjust component, FAC, linked hike in freight rate in the Rail Budget. Asked whether FAC for revising the fare suggested in Rail Budget will be applicable after the recent diesel hike, Bansal said, it has to be done only once in six months.
