Railway Minister flags off Tiger Express

Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on Sunday flagged off Tiger Express, a semi-luxury tourist train, from Safdarjung station New Delhi.<br/><br/>Flagging off the train using a remote control from Mumbai, Mr Prabhu said the train has been launched on the World Environment Day with an aim to spread awareness among people on tiger conservation. He said Railways is fully committed to address environmental issues. Mr Prabhu announced that IRCTC will launch more tourist circuit trains like elephant circuit, desert circuit etc.<br/><br/>Union minister Harshvardan and BJP spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi attended the function in New Delhi. <br/>AIR correspondent reports that the Tiger Express is one of the most innovative tourist products launched by Railways.<br/><br/>The semi-luxury train will take the guests on board to the world famous Bandhavgarh and Kanha National Parks in Madhya Pradesh. The 5 days and 6 nights itinerary of the Tiger Express includes two Tiger Safaris.<br/><br/>During the trip the train would take passengers to Katni from where they will be taken Bandhavgarh by road for a safari.<br/><br/>From there they will be taken to Kanha for another safari. The tourists will then be taken to famous Dhuadhar Falls in Bhedaghar, Jabalpur, before heading back to Delhi.<br/><br/>The package includes accommodation in air-conditioned rooms of three stars hotels for three nights, sightseeing, food, inter-city transfers and travel insurance. The itinerary has a tariff structure starting from Rs. 38,500.
