Railway Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu today dedicated to the nation an 81-km long new railway line between Sonepat and Jind and also flagged off a passenger train between these two stations through video conferencing from Chandigarh today. <br/><br/>Addressing a gathering on the occasion, he said that Railway and Haryana will set up a joint venture company under PPP mode, which will develop railway infrastructure in the state. He said that Haryana would be first state which will have joint venture company with Haryana. He said that such joint venture would be set up with Punjab also. Describing Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh a growth triangle he announced elevated corridor for Rohtak. He said that number of Projects for Haryana are in pipeline.<br/><br/>Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal and Mayor of Chandigarh Arun Sood were present at Chandigarh at Railway Station, while Union Rural Development Minister Birender Singh was present at Sonipat Railway Station. Mr Prabhu also launched a number of other passenger-centric projects which included new Foot-over-Bridge at Platform No. 4 and 5 at Sonipat Railway Station and inaugurated a mechanized laundry in Chandigarh, which would cater to the requirement of linen for entire Ambala division. <br/><br/>He also laid foundation stone of Coaching-cum-Maintenance Facilities at Chheharta Railway Station near Amritsar and additional traffic facilities including 17 lifts and 10 escalators at different Railway Stations including Chandigarh. Apart from this, he also laid foundation stones of 37 Limited Height Subways in Punjab and Haryana. <br/><br/>AIR correspondent's report:-<br/>"Today, on the occasion of inauguration and launch of number of railway projects at Chandigarh, Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu said that the project to run semi high speed train between Delhi and Chandigarh is in the pipeline.
