Railway electrification works in North East region to be completed by December 2023

The railway electrification works in the North East region are expected to be completed by December next year.<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Participating in an AIR talk show, Principal Chief Electrical Engineer of North East Frontier railway Ravilesh Kumar said, so far electrification of 770 kilometers was completed. Mr. Kumar said, another 700 kilometers of work have to be done soon while the remaining two thousand 500 kilometers to be completed by December next year. He said, five agencies are being engaged for the electrification works. Mr. Kumar said that within 20 days, trains up to Guwahati would be operated through electric engines.  He said that once the railway electrification works would be completed in the North East, nearly 1200 crore rupees to be saved annually which is now used to buy diesels. He mentioned that electrification would also bring more employment opportunities to the region. Mr. Kumar, who started the honey bee buzzing system to keep away wild animals from railway tracks, said this system is implemented now at 60 places in North East.</span><br />
