In Uttar Pradesh rail traffic continued to paralyse on the Lucknow-Delhi rail route for the 11th consecutive day. Agitators from Jat Arakshan Sangharsh Samiti staged demonstration and Dharna also at several places including Meerut, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar and Bijnore districts to press their demands for reservation in central government services under OBC. Samiti president Yashpal Mallick told our Lucknow correspondent this evening that a meeting with union Home Minister P Chidambaram likely to be taking place tomorrow at New Delhi to consider their demands. He said it will be held on the initiatives of Mr. Chidambaram. He said a 15 member delegation of Samiti would participate in the meeting with the government.Meanwhile the protesters continued to squat on the tracks near Kafurpur station in the Gazraula area in Jyotiba Phule Nagar district. Central Para Military forces are deployed at Gang Canal at Muradnagar in Ghaziabad district in view of the threat from Jat agitators to stop water supply to Delhi. Supporting their demands Chief Minister Mayawati has urged the Jat agitators for making their demands to the Centre at Delhi in a disciplined way. More than two dozen trains are cancelled and several long distance trains have been diverted on different routes. Trains are running very late due to diversion and commuters are forced to travel long distances to reach their destination. Senior railways officers at Moradabad rail division have said that routes of over 51 trains had been changed through Najibabad while others diverted to alternative routes due to the demonstrations. Over 25 pairs of passenger trains were cancelled.
