In Andhra Pradesh, the 48-hour long Rail Roko agitation called by Telangana Joint Action Committee demanding statehood has passed off peacefully. Transport services remained paralysed in the region for the past two days due to the rail blockade and strike by auto rickshaw and employees of the state-owned transport corporation for statehood. The agitators held protest demonstrations at a number of places on the rail tracks across the region in support of their demand for statehood.Meanwhile, the South Central Railways has begun restoring several express and passenger trains from Hyderabad to other places and also those which pass through Telangana region from tonight. With this, hundreds of passengers who were stranded at various other cities in the state are expected to be deported to their destinations. The state administration and security personnel sighed in relief as no untoward incident reported from the region during the two day rail roko agitation.Meanwhile, the management of the State Owned Road Transport Corporation has held talks with the Employees Joint Action Committee over withdrawal of the strike due to which buses remained off the roads in Telangana region for the past few days. However the talks yield no results.
