Rail, Power Min discuss rail connectivity for coal projects

Railways Minister D.V.Sadananda Gowda and Coal and Power Minister Piyush Goyal held a joint meeting in New Delhi yesterday regarding three important rail connectivity projects for movement of coal. The projects are Tori-Shivpur-Kathautia railway line in North Karanpura in Jharkhand, Jharsuguda-Barpalli-Sardega railway line in IB Valley of Odisha and Bhupdevpuir-Korichapan-Dharamjaigarh in Mand-Raigarh coalfield in Chhattisgarh.The matter was discussed in detail to produce and transport 100 million tonnes of coal for augmenting power generation in the country. Both the Ministers stressed the need for completing the projects on time with clear timelines. The projects are progressing slowly due to land acquisition and forest clearance issues at the state level.
