The largest and a modern manufacturing unit of Indian Railways, Rail Coach Factory, RCF, Kapurthala can manufacture Metro rail coaches also. General Manager of the factory, B.N. Rajasekhar told media at Kapurthala in Punjab that the RCF has the expertise to manufacture Metro rail coaches at competitive price if government allows it. Equipped with best of engineering and Information Technology equipments, the factory is ready to roll out two more rakes of AC Double Deckers in the current financial year. He said that one rake will be rolled out by December end. It would be introduced between Indore & Bhopal. The other one, which is scheduled to be introduced between Chennai & Banglore, would be rolled out by March, next year. To keep the rail tracks clean from human waste, the RCF has introduced bio-toilets using bacteria. 1200 more such toilets would be fitted in the current financial year. AIR Correspondent reports that RCF is also working on introducing Fog Safe device in rail engines so that fog related problems during winters could also be taken care of.
