Rail Budget 2011-12: It is common man’s budget says PM

The Prime Minister has lauded the Railway Minister, Ms. Mamta Banerjee and said that she has done a commendable job. In his reaction to the Railway Budget, Dr. Manmohan Singh said that it is common man's budget with no hike in fares. He said, said that no hike in freight freight charges will weaken inflationary pressure. The BJP has said that the budget is Railway Minister's election sop to West Bengal.Mr. Anant Kumar of BJP said the Railway Budget has been prepared with an eye for upcoming assembly elections in West Bengal, while rest of India has been neglected.Mr. D. Raja of CPI said that there is nothing spectacular in the budget and there are no plans for the future. He said the budget is not realistic.The Congress said that by not increasing freight and passenger fares, the Railway Minister's budget is pro-common man.
