Train services have been disrupted in North Bengal and lower Assam districts following a rail blockade called by the All Koch Rajbongshi Separate State Committee (AKRSSC) since this morning. Official sources said, many long distance trains such as Rajdhani Express, Bangalore Express, Kamrup Express, Saraighat Express and goods trains have been stopped by the protesters at Bongaigaon, Gossaigaon, Bijni and Basugaon in Assam and New Jalpaiguri station in West Bengal. Senior police, civil and railway officials have rushed to the spot and are negotiating with the protesters to lift the blockade.<br/><br/>The AKRSSC is demanding a separate state for Koch Rajbongshis, to be carved out of five lower Assam districts and North Bengal.
