The Lok Sabha was informed today that the Railways has achieved its ten-year Safety Plan. Accidents per million kilometres have reduced from 0.44 percent in 2002-03 to 0.13 in 2012-13. A High Level Safety Review Committee has made 106 recommendations which are now under consideration. In a written reply, Minister of State for Railways Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said most of the 278 recommendations of the Railway Safety Review Committee, known as Khanna Committee, have been implemented.
