After escape of nine prisoners from Meerut jail on Tuesday, Raids are being conducted in the jails throughout Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday. However, the Additional Director general (ADG) jail V K Gupta told AIR Allahabad correspondent that raids are part of routine checking to know the status of jail security and to check illegal activity in the jails if any.The ADG Jail said that the Raids are being conducted in all fifty one (51) district jails and five (5) central jails throughout the state under supervision of District Magistrates and senior district police officers. He said that there is no information of seizure of any illegal items till the report last came in .police sources said that few sim cards have been recovered from Rampur jail.
