Congress National General Secretary Rahul Gandhi’s foot march will conclude today at Aligarh, where he is slated to participate in a Kisan Maha Panchayat at the Exhibition Ground.On the fourth day of his yatra on Friday, Rahul visited several villages in Aligarh and Mathura districts affected by Yamuna Express Way Project where farmers are agitated over land acquisition.AIR correspondent reports that Rahul began the last leg of his foot march this morning from Bajna village in Math tehsil of Mathura district where he stayed over night.Addressing groups of farmers, he said the UPA government at the Centre was committed to help the farmers in all ways and to weed out corruption from the country.Responding to the farmers affected by the Yamuna Express Way Project, he reiterated that a comprehensive Bill on land acquisition would be brought forth and all efforts would be made to get it approved in the next session of Parliament.He accused the BSP government in Uttar Pradesh for not utilising Central funds properly earmarked for various developmental and welfare schemes. Mr. Gandhi also alleged that the State Government was trying to mislead the farmers on the land acquisition issue by announcing a new land acquisition policy, but not implementing it for those who lost their land for the Expressway project.Refuting the claim of the State Government about new policy, he said if the policy was correct, why it was not being implemented in areas where farmers were agitated.Rahul Gandhi had started his march from twin villages of Bhatta -Parsaul in Greater NOIDA area in Gautam Buddha Nagar district on Tuesday morning. He is expected to cover around 90 kms on foot up to Aligarh.He said the objective of his foot march was to take suggestions from farmers over land acquisition and incorporate it in the Land Acquisition Amendment Bill, which the UPA Government had promised to pass in the Monsoon Session of Parliament.
