Rahul stresses need for empowering Panchayats in J&K

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has stressed the need for empowering Panchayats in Jammu and Kashmir . Addressing state level panchayat conference in Srinagar today, he said that even if state government finds it difficult to incorporate 73rd constitutional amendment directly, it can bring in relevant provisions in its own Panchayat Raj Act. He said that he has discussed the issue with state chief minister Omar Abdullah and he is not averse to it.

Earlier after interacting with the university students Rahul Gandhi said that Government and corporate Sector will have to find ways to utilise the talent of the youth of Jammu and Kashmir for the progress of the Country. Talking to mediaperson at Kashmir university campus , Rahul Gandhi said that the top delegation of corporate houses interacted with the students and ways and means for their placements were also discussed. AIR correspondent reports that head of the TATA group, Ratan Tata who was accompanying Rahul Gandhi said the time has come for Indian corporate sector to do it bit for Kashmir .
