Congress General Secretary, Rahul Gandhi today severely criticized Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati for what he termed as misrule in the state. Addressing a huge party rally at Jhunsi in Allahabad today he said the country is progressing but UP is lagging behind in development. Rahul said the progress of the state has been stagnant due to rampant corruption. Rahul was speaking at the launch of congress mass contact programme- Jan Sampark Abhiyan for the forthcoming assembly election in the state early next year. Paying tribute to former Prime Minister Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, Mr. Rahul said Pandit Nehru had some dreams for the country and the Uttar Pradesh as well. Commenting on the corrupt politicians he said that the state which was represented by Pandit Nehru now is being represented by corrupt and criminal politicians. Criticizing BSP government in the state the congress General Secretary said that common man -aam admi has been suffering in Uttar Pradesh because of continuous exploitation, atrocities against farmers, static growth and lack of job opportunities. Rahul said that the centre has been providing sufficient money to the state under different schemes like MNREGA, NRHM but it is not reaching the beneficiaries because of the state governments direct involvement in corrupt practices.Rahul also reiterated UPA government’s commitment for strong anti- corruption law and comprehensive land use policy to protect farmers
