Rahul indicates possibility of working with Mamata; TMC leader rules out joining BJP

Triggering speculation of a post-poll tie-up, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi yesterday appeared soft on Trinamool Congress Chief Mamata Banerjee, who he said understood the language of love, and proposed that the two former allies can still work together. Attacking the BJP leader Narendra Modi during an election rally in Kolkata, Rahul said, Mamata Bannerjee can be convinced with love as she has a clean heart. He said, they cannot convince Modiji as he has crossed the point of no return. Praising the West Bengal CM, the Congress leader said, Ms Banerjee used to work with their party and he does not have any grudge against her.

He however said, Ms Banerjee fought the state assembly elections in 2011 with the support of the Congress and after she formed the government, ditched Congress. Rahul, did not forget to mention the possibility of a Modi-Mamata alliance. He said, he can see a partnership forming again. Trinamool Congress leader Mamta Banerjee however has said that TMC will not join the BJP-led government at the Centre even if they beg for it. Addressing a series of election rallies in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal yesterday, she criticized the divisive politics of BJP.

She said that the election fight should be on issues of political and economic stability. Criticizing BJP leader Narendra Modi, Ms Banerjee said that he is trying to divide the people of Bengal on the basis of caste and creed. She said that her party will move the Election Commission on BJP collecting for the Modi for PM fund.
