In Uttar Pradesh, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi today criticised the NDA government at the Centre for making no headway towards fulfilling the poll promises it made before coming to the power. Rahul, who is on a two day visit to his parliamentary constituency Amethi, said in a media interaction that people in the country are struggling with power woes, inflation and lack of basic facilities. He said that Modi government has not even started work upon the tall promises even after the passage of hundred days.
AIR correspondent reports that Rahul himself had to face a piquant situation when people of his constituency asked him questions about power cuts, bad roads and unemployment in the area. According to reports, the locals questioned him over the lack of development in the constituency. They complained about the lack of electricity and water supply in the district. Meanwhile, BJP today poked fun at Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi for criticizing the government. Replying to a media query in New Delhi, senior party leader and Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said Rahul Gandhi's own party leaders are not listening to him, why should BJP bother about his comments.
BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said that Gandhi's remarks should not be taken seriously as he is becoming irrelevant within the Congress. He said it was the statement for the sake on his own existence.
