Rahul Gandhi says country looking for pro-poor, secular government

Rahul Gandhi today said the country does not need a government that makes Hindus fight Muslims and imposes ideas of one state on another. Addressing an election rally at Ramanathapuram in Tamil Nadu, Rahul said the country is looking for a pro-poor, secular government.

Taking a dig at the BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate, Rahul said that instead of talking about the Gujarat model of development, Modi should witness the Tamil Nadu model, indicating that the southern state fared better. On the Congress party fighting the polls alone in Tamil nadu, Rahul said that he was happy about it, as there was no need for any compromise.

He added Congress would not confine its fight to this Lok Sabha polls alone but also fight and come to power in the state in the future.

Referring to the problems of Tamil fishermen, the Congress Vice President said that those would be resolved and added a dedicated ministry for fisheries at the Centre is promised in the Congress party manifesto.
