Rahul Gandhi on a two-day visit to Punjab

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday met party cadres and office bearers of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee during his day-long visit to Amritsar and asked them to be united for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.Briefing the media, Punjab Pradesh Congress General Secretary, Arvind Khanna said that after reviewing the reasons of defeat of the party in Punjab assembly elections, Rahul asked the cadre to improve their mistakes.He also asked the cadre to popularize Centre government’s people welfare schemes.Rahul Gandhi also listened to the workers on whom alleged fake police cases had been registered by the state government and assured them action. He is likely to address students rally in Chandigarh on Thursday.Earlier, speaking to media, the Information & Broadcasting Minister, Ambika Soni said that nothing controversial should be done at any religious place.She was referring to the memorial being constructed in the memory of those died inside the Golden Temple during Operation Bluestar.She assured that Government would not allow terrorism to revive as Punjab as well as the country had experienced a bad phase earlier.She said social activist Arvind Kejrival’s allegations against Robert Vadra are politically motivated.Union Minister of state for Foreign Affairs, Perneet Kaur condemned the murderous attack on Lt. Gen K.S. Brar (retd.) and said that British Government is taking steps to punish those responsible behind it.
