<span style="color: #222222;">Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today expressed solidarity with Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying his party will cooperate with steps being taken by government to fight coronavirus outbreak. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">In a letter to the Prime Minister, Mr Gandhi highlighted the plight of poor, saying India may need to take different steps than other large countries who are following a total lockdown strategy as India's conditions are unique. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">He said, the number of poor people in India who are dependent on a daily income is simply too large to unilaterally shut down all economic activities. He stressed that consequences of a complete economic shut down will disastrously amplify the death toll arising from the COVID-19 virus.<br />'' &nbsp;<br />''Mr Gandhi called upon the government to immediately strengthen the social safety net and use every public resource to support and shelter the working poor.&nbsp; He also said, there is a need to dramatically increase the number of tests to get an accurate picture of the spread of the virus and to contain it.&nbsp;</span>
