Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi today declared open the two-day convention of the Uttar Pradesh Congress at Varanasi. Several union ministers, MPs, MLAs and leaders from different districts of the state are participating in the convention.AIR correspondent reports the UP Congress has presented 23 resolutions on several political, social and economic issues for discussion. Union Minister Salman Khurshid presented the resolutions. In its resolutions, the party has alleged that during 22 years of non congress rule, the state has gone down in all fields and there was no development. Congress alleged that BSP government has weakened cooperative movement in the state and it has sold several sugar mills from cooperative and federation sectors on very low prices to oblige capitalists. Congress has also targeted BSP government for deteriorating law and order situation and forceful land acquisition from farmers. Mentioning recent incidents at Bhatta Parsaul village in Gautam Buddha Nagar district, party have said that it would continue its struggle for the welfare of the farmers.Congress President Sonia Gandhi is slated to address a public meeting on concluding day of convention tomorrow. The state convention of the party is being held after several years. It will discuss about the party's strategy for the 2012 Assembly elections and would also finalise the candidates for more than 200 seats for the Assembly elections.
