The Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has called a meeting of party leaders in New Delhi on the 6th of this month to analyse the recent poll outcome in Uttar Pradesh. According to Congress party sources, newly elected party MLAs, as also MPs from the states, have been called for the meeting which was earlier scheduled to take place last week.
This will be the first formal review meeting of the U P polls by Mr. Gandhi, who has accepted the responsibility for the defeat. Party chief Sonia Gandhi had in her initial reaction ascribed the UP poll outcome to poor organisation, absence of strong local leadership as also to wrong selection of candidates.
