Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi blew poll bugle for the Assam assembly by expressing confidence that the party would show a good result for a consecutive fourth term. <br/><br/>Addressing a public rally at Medhirtari in Barpeta after a padyatra, Mr. Gandhi alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi failed to bring back money as he promised before the Lok Sabha poll. <br/><br/>Levelling allegation against the BJP, he said that the BJP tried to create clash in the country ahead of election. Addressing the gathering, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi announced a 1 thousand crore rupees package for minority population. Prior to the meeting, the Congress Vice President participated in a 7 kilometre padyatra at Barpeta during the second and last day of his two day Assam visit.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, state BJP President Sarbanand Sonowal said that the visit of Rahul Gandhi could not rescue the Congress from defeat in Assam. Assembly polls in Assam will take place next year.
