Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has asked the tribals to join active politics in large numbers to ensure their empowerment and help solve long-standing problems. He said this while addressing the Tribal Youth Convention and Potential Candidate Meetings at Jharsuguda in Odisha on Wednesday afternoon. Rahul Gandhi on a two-day visit to the state, said, tribals could make their voices heard if more people from their communities participate in politics and public life.Replying to a question on POSCO by a youth, Rahul Gandhi said, POSCO is necessary for development. He said, we are not against development, but all displaced people must get adequate compensation and proper rehabilitation. Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Niranjan Patnaik said Rahul Gandhi's visit will also boost the party ranks in the wake of rising discontentment against the Naveen Patnaik government.
