Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi today accused the BJP of pursuing politics of resentment and personality cult. He also charged the opposition party with trying to stall pro-people and anti-corruption measures of the UPA government like Lokpal, RTI and Land Acquisition Act.
Addressing his first election rally in Uttar Pradesh at Pratapgarh after declaration of the Lok Sabha polls, Rahul attacked BJP for allying with the Shiv Sena, which he said, was known for its hostile stance against people from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
Without mentioning BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Rahul said that Gujarat had not progressed due to one individual. He blamed the BJP-led opposition for the women’s reservation bill failing to get through in Parliament and expressed hope that the Congress will return to power and complete the unfinished task.
Rahul also criticized the Samajwadi Party government in Uttar Pradesh over the Muzaffarnagar communal riots. He alleged that the Samajwadi Party government failed in controlling the situation and taking action against those responsible for the riots.
