Rahaman Khan asks media to give more attention to issues discussed in parliament & state assemblies

The vice chairperson of Rajya Sabha, Mr. K Rahaman Khan, has appealed to the media to give more attention to debates and issues discussed in parliament and state Assemblies rather than the occasional pandemonium and disruption of houses. Speaking at a book releasing function in Lucknow on Tuesday, Mr. Khan said that media stories on the Houses have created a negative image that the people's representatives do not work at all. Criticizing this media trend, he said that in a democracy there is some weaknesses but it should not generalize the idea that they are not working. Mr. Khan also said that in a parliamentary democracy, the role of presiding officers is crucial as the protector of rights of members and to provide a platform to accommodate all views.
The book released by Mr. Khan is called ‘Sanchayeet’ and it is a collection of observations and comments made by UP legislative council chairperson Sukhram Singh Yadav during his tenure.
