Raghuvar Das will be the new Chief Minister of Jharkhand. The decision was taken today in Ranchi in the presence of Central BJP observers, J P Nadda and Vinay Sahasrabuddhe. The name of Mr. Das was proposed by MLA from Khunti, Neelkanth Singh Munda and it was seconded by Saryu Rai and C P Singh and all the present MLAs supported this.
Mr. Das along with AJSU President Sudesh Mahto, senior BJP leader Arjun Munda and Trivendra Singh Rawat met the state Governor Sayyed Ahmed this afternoon and made the claim of government formation. Speaking to media, senior BJP leader Trivendra Singh Rawat said Raghuwar Das will take oath on Sunday, the 28th December at 11 AM in Ranchi. He also said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also attend the swearing in ceremony. BJP-AJSU combine has won 42 of the 81 Assembly seats.
Born on 3rd May, 1955 in a worker family of Tata Steel in Jamshedpur, the new CM elect Raghuwar Das started his education from local Bhalubasa Harijan School and completed his degree in law from Jamshedpur Cooperative College. Jailed during emergency, Mr. Das has been a MLA from Jamshedpur East since 1995 and had been Deputy Chief Minister earlier 2009. He is the first non-tribal Chief Minister in 14 years history of the state. He is seen as hard task master and has no corruption charges against him in his entire career.
