Radical Changes are need of hour: Rajiv Pratap Rudy

Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy today stressed upon building ecosystem for skilling, saying radical changes are the need of the hour. <br/><br/>Addressing the gathering at the National Conference of State Ministers on Skilling with Quality, Mr Rudy said his Ministry is going to give special focus on North East for imparting skills to the youth. The Minister said, Skilling India is a priority for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He lamented the fact that people like plumbers and carpenters do not get professional training and learn their trade by becoming apprentices to others. He said the country has about one crore plumbers who did not receive any professional training. <br/><br/>Mr Rudy urged the states to play an active role in Centre's Skill India initiative. The Modi government, which has taken the skill development initiatives on a top priority, wants to scale up skilling efforts and has set a target to train over 40 crore people in India in different skills by 2022.
