Former Afghan President and the High Peace Council chief Burhanuddin Rabbani has been conferred with the title of ‘Martyr of Peace’ posthumously.Afghan President Hamid Karzai announced this at the funeral ceremony at the Presidential palace in Kabul on Friday.President Karzai also vowed to continue the efforts for peace so as to broker peace with insurgents.He also said that the assassination would not derail peace efforts in Afghanistan. Prof. Rabbani, president of Afghanistan from 1992 to 1996, was killed on Tuesday by a suicide bomber pretending as a peace messenger from the Taliban. He was veteran political and religious leader killed.
