R K Singh visits Cross LoC Trade Centre in Jammu Division

Ahead of Indo-Pak Home Secretary- level talks on May 24-25 in Islamabad, Union Home Secretary R K Singh today visited Cross Loc Trade Centre in Poonch district of Jammu Division to have a first-hand assessment of the problems being faced by businessmen in cross-LoC trade.

He also held a meeting with the top security officials to assess the security arrangements on the Trade route. During his visit, the Home secretary also held a meeting with the Cross LOC Traders to discuss the problems being faced by them.

The traders submitted a memorandum to the Union Home Secretary , demanding review of Trade list, movement of 50 trucks per day from Poonch and basic facilities at Trade center Poonch.

Mr. Singh assured the traders that he will discuss the issues with his counterpart in the coming Secretary level talks. Later talking to media persons at Immigration Centre Chakkan da Bagh , Poonch, Mr.Singh said that India wants good trade relations with Pakistan.

He said we will not allow racketeers to use Poonch-Rawlakote and Uri-Salamabd routes for Havala transaction and to put check on them we are going to set up a system on which we will evaluate the valuation of goods imported and exported every after 6 months, so that excess money cannot be used for other purposes.

The Union Home Secretary further stated that during the forthcoming Indo-Pak Home Secretary level talks, India will press Pakistan to handover JuD chief Hafiz Sayeed, mastermind of Mumbai blast including other criminals and wanted Terrorists to India and speedy trial in a Pakistani court of seven 26/11 accused like Zaki-ur Rehman Lakhviand other wanted terrorists in Pakistan.
