An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.6 jolted northeastern Japan today. Japan's Meterological agency said the focus of the quake, was located about 40 kilometres under the sea, east of Fukushima Prefecture. The seismic waves spread to neighboring Miyagi, Tochigi, Iwate, Aomori and Akita prefectures. Tremors were also felt in most buildings in Tokyo. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage to properties.
