An earthquake of 6.2 magnitude hit off the Solomon Islands on Thursday. According to the US Geological Survey, the quake struck at 8:05 am local time at a depth of 54 kilometres around 260 kilometres east of the capital Honiara. However, there were no reports of damages and no tsunami warning was issued.
