An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter Scale hit China's Yecheng county of northwestern Xinjiang Uyugur region early this morning. China's national seismological network said the epicentre of the quake was at a depth of 100 kilometres. The quake struck at 3.45 a.m. local time. There are no immediate reports of any damage or casualties.
