Qatar has announced the first death in the country due to Middle East Respiratory Syndrome or the MERS Corona Virus. The Health Ministry confirmed that a 56 year old Qatari woman suffering from a chronic illness died of the infection at a hospital in Doha. Two more cases of infection have been registered in the country. Another Qatari died of the infection in a British hospital in June this year. The World Health Organization has now reported 51 deaths from the MERS Corona Virus infection with maximum number of casualties from Saudi Arabia. MERS Virus has flu like symptoms but differs from it by leading to kidney failure. A report published in American Health Journal last month said that MERS was transmitted to human beings from bats, but another study in British journal Lancet said the virus could have spread from one humped camels.
