World Number one, Victoria Azrenka, number two Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova, Li Na, Samantha Stosur, Svetlana Kuznetsova, Jelana Jnkovich, Ana Ivanovich are among the top ranking women participating in the tournament. Venus Williams has withdrawn due to back injury. However, her sister and the World number two, Serena Williams has a chance to regain the World number One ranking if she wins the title in Doha.
