In Badminton, Rio Olympics silver medallist PV Sindhu and Sameer Verma today lost their respective Singles Final matches of the Hong Kong Open Super Series tournament. While Sindhu lost to fourth seed Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei, 15-21, 17-21, Sameer went down fighting local favourite Ng Ka Long Angus, 14-21, 21-10, 11-21. It was Ying's fifth victory over Sindhu. The ace Indian has defeated the Taiwanese thrice in the past. Ying had stunned world number one Carolina Marin of Spain in the semi-finals. Sindhu had won the China Open last week following which she broke into the top-10 of the Badminton World Rankings. In the Men's Singles, Sameer Verma came into the tournament as a qualifier and had defeated third seed Jan Jorgensen of Denmark in the semi-finals.
