PV Sindhu crashes out of Singapore Open

Kidambi Srikanth joined today his compatriot B Sai Praneeth to sail to the men's singles semi-final of the Singapore Open super-series badminton tournament. However, Rio Olympic Silver medalist P V Sindhu and the pair of B Sumeeth Reddy and Ashwini Ponnappa crashed out of the tournament. Unseeded Srikanth outplayed 5th seeded Shi Yuqi of China 21-14, 21-16. It was a comeback for former world number 3 Srikanth. In another quarter-final match, B.Sai Praneeth defeated 8th seeded Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk of Thailand 15-21, 21-14, 21-19. Sindhu lost to Spain's Carolina Marin in a quarter-final match 11-21, 15-21.India also lost the mixed doubles quarter-final match when 3rd seeded Chinese pair of Lu Kai and Huang Yaqiong defeated the pair of B.Sumeeth Reddy and Ashwini Ponnappa 21-11, 21-8.
