Punjabi University, Patiala has clinched the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad trophy, a prestigious sports award at the university level. The university has bagged the trophy for the eighth time and fourth time in a row. Association of Indian Universities released the names and points of top nine universities in sports.According to the list, Punjabi University is on the top with 71,840 points. Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar bagged the second spot with 65,170 points while Delhi University is placed third with 31,770 points. Punjabi university has earlier won the MAKA trophy in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2011, 2012, 2013, while it was declared a joint winner with GNDU in 2009. The Trophy will be awarded on the occasion of National Sports Day on August 29.
