Punjabi University, Patiala, has been selected for Maulana Abul Kalam Azad trophy for the year 2008-09 and Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar for 2009-10. From last year revised guidelines for selection of Winner University for the Award has come into effect. Accordingly, Punjabi University, Patiala, will keep the trophy for the first six months and Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, for the next six months. However, both the universities get the full award money of 10 lakh rupees. This information is given by Vice Chancellor of Punjabi University, Dr. Jaspal Singh at Patiala. The universities will receive the trophy from the Paritabha Patil, at a specially organized function at the Rashtrapati Bhawan on Sunday.
