In Punjab, the State Government would spend Rs. 62.5 crore rupees for the development of Border areas in the four border districts of Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Ferozepur and Tarn Taran this year. An approval to this effect was given by Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal at a high level meeting held under his chairmanship at Chandigarh late last evening. Giving details of the plan the spokesperson said that under this scheme up gradation and maintenance of the infrastructure in areas along the international border would be undertaken, which would cover up-gradation of power, road connectivity, health infrastructure, water supply and sanitation. Mr. Badal asked all the concerned authorities to chalk out a comprehensive plan immediately and submit the details within a week to ensure early execution of these development works.
