The Punjab Government will decrease VAT on Canteen Stores Department (CSD) items for army personnel. Speaking to retired army personnel in Jalandhar on Wednesday, Punjab Minister for Defence Services Welfare, Capt. Balbir Singh Bath (Retd) said the proposal to decrease VAT on CSD items would also be cleared by the State Cabinet. He also disclosed that pension for those army personnel who died during 84 riots while performing duty has been increased from 1500 rupees to 3000 rupees. Bath said family pension has also been increased from 2500 to 5000 rupees per month.
