In the poll bound Punjab, today is the last day of filing the nominations. As many as 979 candidates filed their nominations for 117 Assembly seats in Punjab till Wednesday. Ludhiana was leading with 76 nominations followed by Amritsar where 62 nominations were filed Wednesday. Candidates from various political parties are using different means of transport to get noticed while going to file their nomination papers. A woman candidate from Amritsar cycled her way to the office of the Returning Officer, whereas another candidate in Jalandhar District boarded a private bus to file his nomination.A senior Shiromani Akali Dal, SAD leader rode a scooter in Ludhiana to file his papers and another candidate from Jalandhar, took along his sofa in an open four-wheeler to file his nomination papers. AIR Jalandhar Correspondent reports that almost all the top leaders have filed their nominations. These include Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal, former Chief Ministers, Capt. Amrinder Singh and Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, Senior BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia and President of the newly formed People’s Party of Punjab, Manpreet Singh Badal.
